Our engagement
Living in Europe, it's so easy to get from place to place, and Mike and I always make it a point to try to visit somewhere new for each of our holidays... Well, Mike knew that Paris was one place I was dying to visit. We had a four-day weekend that just happened to coincide with Valentine's Day, and what better place to celebrate than the City of Love! So off we went for a four-day mini-vacation.
On the first day, February 13th, we arrived a bit late, but we managed to squeeze in a tour of the Louvre, complete with the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo, among other amazing wonders. The next day, Valentine's Day, started with a visit to the Sacre Coeur for a breathtaking view of the city. After that, we explored around town, and ended up on the banks of the River Seine... Even though it was in the middle of the city, it was one of the quietest places - there was no one there but us. Mike convinced me to take a picture of the spot we were standing in (little did I know that he had a secret motive!)...

...and then by the time I had put the camera down, he was down on one knee and slipping the most beautiful ring on my finger... and of course I said yes! (I won't go into detail about how much I was bawling, but the river probably rose a few inches that day.)
After that, on cloud nine, we had coffee in a little cafe by the river, and then it was off to Notre Dame, and later that night, up the Eiffel Tower for an amazing view of the city. Simply magical. Then, to dinner at a fancy French bistro to complete the night.
Unfortunately, we missed an entire day of Paris because I was deathly ill the next day! :( I think it was from some meat we'd bought for lunch at the market, but Mike thinks I'm allergic to diamonds. There were so many things I'd still wanted to see... but oh well, that just means we'll have to go back again at some point.
Even with being sick, it was still a totally memorable and amazing weekend :)
